The Brief
To provide outplacement support for production staff being released by the
business due to restructuring.
Meeting Challenges / Overcoming Barriers
The project presented unique challenges for the VT Methven team as there
were three shift patterns affected by the restructure which required VT Methven
having an on-site presence around the clock. The majority of people had worked
for the company for years and did not have a CV and had never considered
the factors involved in a successful job search campaign.
Our Approach
Our consultants worked day and night to see employees from the three shifts
and offered group training and one to one support.
The programme included production of an effective CV, interview techniques,
ways to approach the job market and use of the internet as a tool for finding
the right job. Mark Jones, VT Methven Consultant commented: “many people think the
only way to look for a job is in the paper, but we want to help open new
paths to future employment”.
Once the on-site work had been completed, VT Methven provided telephone support
for a year to assist with a range of issues including identifying language/computer
training and CV updates.
