The Brief
A Director was approaching retirement and the client had been identified
as a potential replacement. VT Methven was invited to put together a programme
of coaching and mentoring activities to help the client work on areas of
development and an activity plan.
Meeting Challenges / Overcoming Barriers
It was vital that the client felt that he had ownership of the programme
in what was a very personal and ‘soul-searching’ activity.
Our Approach
One of the important aspects of this programme was the need to tailor the
support to the specific needs of the client - clearly an ‘off-the-shelf’ package
would not be suitable. Although the inclusion of our VT Methven branded career
management exercises played a key role, the most important ingredient was
the consultant’s ability to identify the individual’s specific
needs and establish rapport and trust with him.
