The Customer:
Central Government Department The Brief To provide a ‘Rolls Royce’ service of Outplacement and Career Transition support to 47 Civil Servants during the closure of their Cardiff operation – to aid and facilitate staff moving into alternative roles, whether into other Civil Service positions, posts in the wider public sector, the private sector, self employment or education. The Approach VT Methven’s primary aim was to offer as much intensive one to one support and group training throughout to all affected employees and any sensible proactive help that would ensure that all individual requirements were met. A close and ongoing relationship was also established with HR staff to facilitate reporting arrangements and integrated support for staff. Individual one to one assistance, as well as encouragement was offered to all staff, including personal stocktake and evaluation of skills and achievements, identifying transferable skills, CV preparation and review, application forms, strategies for dealing with competency based questions, how to approach the job market, and finally interview training and assessed role play practice. An Advice Centre was set up and provided a wide array of information, publications and contacts concerning alternative career options, local and regional job vacancies and training. Information and assistance with self-employment, recruitment agencies, financial planning and tax advice was also arranged. ![]() |
